A major part of the Nazi propaganda attack upon Churchill rested on his connection with Roosevelt. Churchill and his " plutocratic " clique were traitors to Europe, for they were ready to hand the British Empire over to FDR, and Europe to Stalin, in order to maintain their shaky control over England. A noted Nazi journalist Otto Kriegk wrote " It is altogether possible that Churchill can only continue the war that he started by his guarantee to Poland, by surrendering this guarantee and handing Polish territories over to the Bolsheviks.

The Nazi argument that Churchill was placing Britain in an inferior position in relation to the USA contained a valid insight, but the Nazis divorced this perception from its context of an English war of survival. Moreover, Hitler had seriously underestimated the ties of sentiment and interest that united Britain and America, and he did so because he typically ignored advise from "unreliable" sources.

By 1914 the famed economic historian Werner Sombart had discovered that the English did not deserve to rank amongst the nations of heroes. They were more a nation of traders, in this they were akin to the Jews rather than the Germans. It was but a short step from this thesis to the later cry that the English were " the Jews amongst Aryan peoples "

Throughout 1940 Nazi propagandists worked hard in many media to develop the mature concept of " plutocracy " Speakers presented the British as a nation of Judaised money-lenders, as people who lived by the stock market and Freemason lodges, propagandists contrasted this alleged lack of culture with a Germanic world that had brought forth Goethe, Beethoven and Hitler.The theme that began to dominate propaganda by early 1940 however, was the description of Britain as a retrogressive land of slums, unemployment, and social inequality.

Two films of the early war years were less ambiguous and more honest in delineating another of the regime's murder policies , the far more massive programme of annihilating every Jewish man, women and child in occupied Europe. Film director Fritz Hippler used an idea suggested by the Propaganda Ministry's anti-Jewish expert, Dr Taubert, and produced the notorious film The Eternal Jew [Der Ewige Jude] It opened in Berlin on November 28 1940, and later appeared in dubbed versions in many parts of Europe.

The Eternal Jew is presented as a documentary about the role of Jews in world history. Amongst numerous disgusting descriptions, the Jews are portrayed as lower than vermin, creatures akin to the rat, money-mad bits of filth devoid of all higher values, corrupter of the world. The film does not conclude by urging the extermination of the Jews. But it's message is clear. The only way to save the world is to murder the Jews.

One of the most infamous feature films produced in Nazi Germany was Jud Suss, two film historians have referred to the Jew Suss as the best propaganda film of the Third Reich. The fictional story was based upon the life and death of the early 18th century Wurttemberg court Jew, Suss Oppenheimer. It describes how through black magic and money he and his fellow Jews scheme to seize power by manipulating the corrupt, drunken duke. Oppenheimer is ultimately hanged in a cage. The lesson of Jew Suss was clear the Jew is a parasite upon the body of society, the Jew must be killed. These two motion pictures represented a Nazi synthesis, for they brought to mass audiences the murder policies formerly espoused by individuals and publications.

"  After mouthing " I love you" during her speech last week in Denver, former President Bill Clinton is humiliated by a TV clip showing Hillary turning away as he moved to kiss her. Worse she then kisses Barack Obama. Serves Bill right. Public kissing by politicians on platforms is getting out of hand " Starrman's advice to Bill, why didn't you hold up a sign saying " Hillary you're the only women in my life " At least you would have got a good laugh.

" TV Pundit Charles Krauthammer says after Denver that he still finds Obama " a dazzling mysterious Gatsby " and a stranger, a deeply engaging, elegant, brilliant stranger with whom the Democrats had a torrid affair. Having slowly woken up, they see the ring and wonder who exactly they married last night. They'll find out soon enough in November " 

   
Adolf Hitler had war aims for transcending the German domination of Europe. In the event of war he could carry out policies which peacetime conditions rendered difficult to conceal, even in a totalitarian state. Hitler believed that the German people were not yet hard enough to accept these policies, though he hinted at them in both his writings and in public speeches.

Hitler wanted to eliminate from the national community the " racially unfit ", individuals with hereditary diseases and the congenitally ill. In a secret decree of august 1939, Hitler ordered the right to be extended to qualified physicians to grant a " charitable death " to the "incurably ill " persons put to death between 1939 and the autumn of 1941 ran as high as 100.000. But as a result of public uproar provoked in part by Bishop Galen of Munster, the programme was terminated in 1941.

One of Goebbels major tasks was the mobilisation of the German media for justifying measures taken by the regime. In the case of the "euthanasia" programme the Nazis had to be especially careful about popular sensibilities. The film produced to bring the nation to accept legal murders committed by the state, was by far more palatable to the average German than the actual murders would have been. I Accuse concerns a young women stricken with multiple sclerosis a disease which turns her into a human vegetable before killing her. There is no cure for the women, but she is afraid of the agony of dying. Her husband accedes to her request that he kill her. The husband is put on trial, when he emotionally sums up the case by declaring that he is now the accuser, and that there is something wrong with the present law. The film gives the impression that the audience must decide as to the rights and wrongs of this problem. But audiences left the theatre feeling sympathy for the accused, clever propaganda had brought this opinion about.

   RUSSIAN TROOPS IN GEORGIA
Europe's leaders are beginning to dither in respect of the Russian invasion of Georgia, but what can they do. Let's not forget that Russia supplies the EU with 40% of it's natural gas, and a third of it's oil. If the EU impose sanctions, the Russians threaten continuity of gas and oil supplies, many EU leaders are reluctant to call Russia's bluff, and there's every chance Russia could be serious.

To describe Russia as a democracy would desecrating the word, Putin has the Duma in the palm of his hand. The Russian people have never experienced true democracy, they love tough guy Putin, they'd be up for a struggle even if it means sacrifice.

It's a big problem, the salvation of which may well be long term, the EU must find alternative sources of supply, the truth is the Russians are not reliable partners, but history shows that is no surprise.

The career of the actor Horst Caspar was that of a man whose manner reflected the tone and style of the " convinced National Socialist " Youthful, decisive, an inspired fanatic, these terms characterise Caspar in the German screen role he played during the war, from Friedrich Schiller [1940] through to Kolberg [1945]  Moviegoers were meant to see the young Friedrich Schiller as a rebel against authority in the name of genius and fatherland, had not the young Hitler suffered similar agonies in his struggle for the triumph of his will.

Goebbels the Nazi propaganda minister made much use of historical analogy in the wartime German cinema. No figure was more attractive to them than Otto von Bismark, the German chancellor and minister-president of Prussia, the man who unified Germany by enabling Prussia to conquer the Reich. Two wartime extravaganzas on the Bismark theme , Bismark in 1940 and the Dismissal in 1942. These movies not only embodied many cliches about the Iron Chancellor common in Germany, but were also successful in enveloping the past in the " national values " of the present. With regards to the movie Bismark the aim of the film is to present Bismark as the man who began the work completed by Adolf Hitler. In The Dismissal the last words of old Bismark are " Germany Germany. Who will complete my work " The audience was supposed to answer in 1942, Hitler.
