Are the BBC too big for their boots

For anyone who would dare to question the role and performance of the BBC, there have been two interesting articles this week.

The first came from a most unlikely source, the New York Times (unlikely in that they and the BBC are like two peas in a pod when it comes to their left of centre, politically correct stance). The article, entitled 'The Biased Broadcasting Corporation', suggests the BBC has an anti-Western stance on the Middle East.

Regardless of whether you agree, its worth reading...

The second is from Gerard Baker in the London Times, who does a fairly comprehensive demolition job on the BBC whilst simultaneously attempting to distance himself from an Murchoch-esque conspiritarial plot (Murdoch owns the London Times).

Aside from the BBC, Gerard Baker applauds London as 'the world's capital' and manages to squeeze in a wonderful reference to Ken Livingstone... 'It is run — if you can call it that — by a sort of postmodern communist Mayor, whose political voice — minus the annoying nasal whine — would sound right at home in Paris, Bologna or San Francisco.'

The article will either have you in raptuous applause or boil your blood!

I rarely watch BBC TV, but I do think the website is quite good - however I'm not sure I should be forced to pay £120 per year for the privilege.
