The UN Inter-govermental Panel on Climate Change, is making some pretty dire predictions the jury is still out as to whether they will come to pass. Let's look at some facts, the total carbon emissions of the UK are 2% of the world total, air traffic contributes 2-4%.

World temperatures are expected to rise by 3 deg C during this century, an average resort on the south coast of the UK based on these figures will have a maximum temperature of 23 deg C in July and 11deg C in January, this will amount to a very pleasent climate with more vacations being taken in the UK. Even in Southern Spain summer maximum temperatures will be below the present maximum temperatures in Cyprus, where a good life style exists.

It is estimated that the most significant volume of carbon emissions by far will increasingly come from emerging economies like China and India, do we really believe that they will put the breakes on, most unlikely. Although we must think of the future, modern technology has given the average person in the western world the opportunity to enjoy a reasonable lifestyle, those who cry out for sacrifice, should realise that significant increases in the financial burden, put upon the citizen by way of carbon taxes, may not be acceptable, nor should they be.
