Pondering Gas/Petrol and Alternatives

There might be another way to price a gallon of gas. If we added the extra money it costs you and I to send our brave men and women into harms way to defend oil shipping lanes and take over countries to ensure our addition to oil, the price would be an added $4 a gallon. Maybe alternative energies would be better value than the $7 gallon of gas that we are actually paying!

Research now shows that Mexico will be out of oil in 10 years. 40% of their exports are oil. What will they do to make up 40% of their income? What will it be like to have a failed state on our boarder?
Alternatives? I have heard that we have an abundance of Oil Sands in mid-America. Oil Sands are different from Canada and Venezuala's Tar Sand deposits.

I also understand that Oil sands are much dirtier to the environment and harder to mine and hardly turn a profit. In fact other countries, including Australia have given up on the technology as it's too expensive and it takes almost as much energy to create, as it provides.

Some say that nuclear is the way to go. Seeing as it costs huge amounts of money and years to build a plant and no one wants the leftovers, surely it would be cheaper to surrender and say yes to electric cars, solar panels and wind turbines etc?

Indonesia is looking to have a nuclear power station. Where do they want to site it? On the side of a volcano!! I am dumbfounded that a country with that much sunsine doesn't put a solar panel of every house. Surely it would cost the same, but the solar panel industry doesn't have the lobbying power that the nuclear industry has.

florencev, for those of us who are not as informed as of yet, but interested in learning more... Could you direct me to any lobbying going on by the solar panel industry? I'd like to read about current actions/campaigns.

      Hi Georgie,
I'm not aware of any groups. I could do some googling.
I am focused on getting a lot more articles into my blogs.
