It appears that the rumored Civic Type R-R is more than just vapourware, Auto Express is currently running a hands-on article in its latest issue on the Type R-R.

This new civic looks to be an absolute beast, but it's a beast with a heavy price tag... £64,000* is a lot of money for an extra 60bhp and no sound deadening.

Where does that price tag come from? It's hard to see how that could make sense. The sequential gearbox is the only really hefy bit of new kit from what I've read. The rest is shaving off or squeezing out more. I've no doubt it will be entertaining, but not at new 911 Porsche prices.

Price tag is from the Magazine, they don't publish a lot of the information online, most likely so you'll buy the magazine.

I ageee completely with you on the value for performance, I expect it'll be aimed solely at the track car/race series market. That being said I still can't see anyone buying it...

Honda needs something a bit more tasty than the current Type R just to compete in the £20-25k hot-hatch sector. I bet within 6 months this RR will appear (or something v.similar) as a new £25k top end offering for the mass market.
