This is an exellent program for aspiring 3d artists and animators.
Either as a hobby or just for fun. you can create amazing videos and photorealistic still images with incredible detail and lighting, all with just a couple of mouse clicks.

The program works by you dragging in a model ie: a person, car, prop, and much like a puppet you pull its strings by playing around with some dials that control every little detail of the model or prop.you can downlaod and use many pre-made poses, plugins, and props to help quicken your work and all animations are seemless between poses.

If you get to lazy and dont want to use pre-made poses then you can take the easy way out and go with motion capture via BVH files!! for you techies out there this program also suports opengl preview rendering to quicken and preview your render if you card supports it. This program is completley backwards compatible with all posers!

Oh yeah, and did i mention it was free ;)

Another good software for 3D modelling that is freeware is Blender which is a much more grass roots programme but very good

true, blender is a powerful program with respect to programs like Maya and cinema 3d. Those programs as powerful as they are, can have a steep learning curve for those unfamiliar with the world of 3d animation.

Daz studio is not necessarily meant to be a full blown modeling solution like its powerful cousins; but more of something to just make animating already made characters easier.

This program is meant for the regular person to take a creative crack at creativity with as little to no learning curve at all.

Yeahbut, you gotta buy stuff with Daz (although it DOES give you a few freebies more tantalizing than useful _ IMO, of course).

true earsz, there are stuff you can purchase. its your option to. they release weekly freebies and there are plenty of free content on the net that can be used if its not in your budget at the time.
