This is a GREAT article in which Dr. Ron Paul makes some excellent points about political "power" and how it has little place in a free society.

Incredibly, Dr. Ron Paul is a Republican member of Congress from Texas. I can think of certain other Republican from Texas who probably has a MUCH different view on this!! Apparently he used to be very popular... not so much now I feel...

Interesting that he is Republican but to be fair, old school Republicans (real Republicans) believe in less government, and less government interference in peoples' personal lives. Of course that has not been the case with the current Republican party in the USA.

Ron Paul is a breath of fresh air to true Republicans. His views are pulling Democrats too. What isn't discussed so much is that he is a Libertarian who ran for President as a Libertarian. He believes in NO government at all and that everything should be privitized and people should take complete responsibility for themselves.

But have we set people up to be independent? Our education system is leaving people with no strong will to make it on their own. The teaching to, and taking of, the No Child Left Behind test doesn't encourage the sort of individual thinking that is needed to make it on your own.

The multi-national corporations have twisted the market place, making it difficult for small businesses to compete with the Wal-Marts of the world. Frustration at their inability to be 'happy', is making people take more and more TV advertised anti-depression drugs.

The media is controlled by 4 giant corporations, so not much chance for individualism there. Mind controlling advertsing on TV encourages people to buy foods that are making them ill. Everywhere they look there are options to buy and eat. With obesity and health problems at all time highs, how are people to snap out of this media induced comma to make themselves well on their own.

Privitized health care isn't exactly working as well as we are told, but they ARE making the most marvelous profits.

Oil energy corporations' profits are doing fantastically too, while they are STILL getting subsidies. That means there's not much money left to help the small renewable energy industries.

Chemical giants like Monsanto sell genetically modified cotton seeds to poor but independent farmers in India but don't tell them that they need constant water to grow. Most farmers hand water, so their crops fail. Then they don't have the money buy more seed. For centuries they saved seed, but clever advertising convinced them to buy Monsanto's seed. There are thousands of farmers commiting suicide.

Free Trade isn't so free when these corporations rule the airwaves, get government subsidies and move off-shore, while small businesses get nothing but taxation.

Even this president is using a 130,000 strong private army in Iraq. We've just heard how out of control they are. It won't be such fun if they turn up in the U.S. and start going out of control here.

I think that Ron Paul wants a world without all this corruption, but I think it's too late.

that was a very in depth and accurate explanation of where Ron Paul stands and why i couldnt vote for him, even though he is the better choice in the republican party
