More than 100 US Dead in Iraq in April

That brings the total US Death toll to 3,351. Add to that an estimated 394 American mercenaries (or, as they're euphemistically called, "contractors"), and you've got a total of 3,745.

Just like the war itself, the "surge" is working nicely. Don't you think?

Reading this made me think about Vietnam and a google search produced an interesting blog entry comparing the two conflicts:
    http://www.lies.com/wp/20...ietnam-and-iraq-by-month/
It highlights the fact that many years of operations had occured before the casulties escalated in Vietnam. Could this scenario occur in Iraq? I guess it all depends on the attitude of the US government.

I am not a big fan of the US government's foreign policies. I realize that I am not a citizen of the States, but I also feel that there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to dealing with other nations. Take a second look at the current problems with North Korea. They are not testing nucs with out (in their opinion) a ligit reason. It is the same story with Iraq and the other middle east countries that are currently in conflict. I think that how a nation deals with the world will directly affect not only their image, but how they are dealt with by the world. One makes their own bed as it were.

I think that the US should take a look at their Foreign Policies. Take a second to look at North Korea's current unrest. They are not testing nucs (in Their opinion) for no reason. They feel a threat and are showing that they are going to fight for their way of life. I feel that this is the same situation in Iraq and the other Middle East countries involved in conflict with the States. One does not begin a war if they do not feel threatened. Even "Terrorists" have a reason for the things they do. They may not be sane (in some opinions) or something "non radical" people can comprehend, but there is still a reason that drives them.

I realize that I am not a citizen of the States, but I do feel that there is room for improvement in the Foreign Policies that are in place in your nation. These policies dictate not only how you (as a nation) are viewed, but also how you are dealt with. If you are viewed as an aggressor, you will be treated as such and receive less tolerance from the world than you may believe fair. The same is true in the reverse. If you are seen as a country that has the worlds best interests at heart, you will be dealt with accordingly. It is up to you as a nation to decide how you want to be viewed by the world.

One reaps what one sews as it were.
