Making me itch

This is what got me into Dj'ing -
Qbert is a grand master when
it comes to scratching and this
was years ago (1995 I think) -
but that changed a lot for me back
then, i choose to spend hours making a
pittance to get some turntables and
then a family friend (cue heavenly
music here) "permanently lent"
me his old ones. Yes they were
crappy belt drive, no label, turntables
from east London somewhere and lent me
his very large vinyl collection for a few
years until I built mine up.

WARNING: this got me hooked to my biggest money spender ever! (But totally worth it!)

So hours and hours of bad mixing and total mayhem (ah my poor family), I one day sort of "got" it and suddenly I could tell what I was doing right and wrong. Oh this was what it was all for! Ahahaha…..

Then the knowledge that I am now at the very tip of the ice burg and on a me to qbert/sasha/insert you favorite Dj here level, I had a very long way to go.

But anyways - I just wanted to share this moment with y'all, because it still inspires me to go spend 4 hours hunched over my (much nicer technics 1210's) trying to mash up rugga, d'nb, hip-hop and a healthy amount of scratching madness (ok, this is my next endeavor, still not quite up to a level that I would be happy to do at a gig)- but hey, it's alllllll goooooooooooood ;p

Coooo ho ooooool. Love the guys obvious comment at the end. I have taken heed of your warning and, together with my frank realisation of my own inabilities, will not be purchasing a set of decks. I will remain hooked on my own ear fuzz bug that is Reason.

Well isn't it the way with anything. You need to put in stupidly large amounts of practice to master anything.
