A few weeks ago I finally got to see the movie "300".  While it was not exactly 100% historically accurate (I didn't expect it to be) it was close enough to give a fair accounting of the stand at Thermopylae.  But the movie itself; the visuals, the action, the grandiose views of the protagonist, more than made up for any factual lapses.  Shooting the film with the "Magna" special effect also gave it an incredible visual stylization.  The acting was quite good and the special effects didn't overshadowing the movie, which has become somewhat prevalent in Hollywood these days.  There is quiet a bit of violence and blood in the movie so I wouldn't recommend it to younger audiences.  But if you would like to experience the feel of what those Spartans did lo' so many years ago I would highly urge you see this in the theaters before it's completely gone.  It will still be great on DVD but you have to experience it on the big screen to fully appreciate it.
