i feel sorry for her...she really is in danger if she goes to prison..female prisoners have said they will do all sorts of stuff to her from rape (however women do that i dunno), beatings even going as far to say they will kill her..shes gonna enjoy prison even less than the average person would

I read some of the comments from the link - and it bothers me that there is so much anger. The anger seems to stem from the fact that she's rich, or white, or both - not because of what she did.

Comments like that make me wonder if humanity is actually worth saving.

I read in the paper a month ago that Janet Jackson went on a field trip with Missy Elliot (female rap star) to a grocery store in America. It was the first time she had ever set foot in a supermarket, she explained in an interview. She had no idea how to pay at the till, as her assistants usually take care of that for her, and she doesn't carry cash or credit cards. She was also confused by the shopping trolleys.

I wonder if Paris Hilton's life has certain parallels with Janet Jackson, who essentially became famous as a child as part of the Jackson family, and grew up in the music business to make a massive fortune of her own. They seem to grow up in a fantasy world, where real things like credit cards and shopping for their own groceries seem completely foreign. One might ask what Paris Hilton has to cry about, since she has grown up with a silver spoon and the teeny tiny dog with matching collar she carries around in her handbag. But maybe it is reality that is so very threatening, that she is human and subject to certain limitations...

I've been thinking about this - it's bothered me somewhat. This anger and hatred that is being directed at Paris - I wonder why it is. IS it because she's rich (and yes, spoilt)? Considering the American Dream and the hero-ism of people who make it in the American Culture, if she'd made her money herself, would she be pillioried so much? Is is because it's inherited and she's not had to work for it? Is it because her father made the money and spoilt her rotten? If this is the case, then it's not her fault.

Let's face it, most of us would spoil our kids (to a lesser extent, I'd hope) if we were rich. And if WE'D been spoilt like Paris, wouldn't WE have turned out similar? We are all products of our upbringing and to detest someone for something their parents did, seems to be a little unfair, really.

Or am I wrong? Do I actually fancy her and am therefore willing to forgive just that little bit more? What do you think?

I am deeply bothered by this. Bothered that it isn't long enough, or that they will let her out early!

I don't actually care that she's a waste of good space, or that she takes in oxygen which would be better consumed by a garden weed, but when she dares to delude herself to the point that she makes the comment about we need her to enrich our otherwise mundane lives....

I've no time for these wastes of space. Get rid.

Philip Larkin put it well, " They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they have had
And add some extra, just for you." ( From This Be the Verse)

Actually I thought Paris added to the general gaity of Bondi Beach when she visited a few months ago. She shopped happily in all the little independent fashion stores leaving signed pics for the owners to put in their windows ( OK maybe an awful warning - but hey - she did her bit). And the music from her party at Icebergs livened up that end of the beach no end. Leave her alone - poor little rich girl what has she done to you?

Red Leader - as I said - what has she done to YOU? Yes has broken the law and by her actions it appears that she seems to think she is above it. No doubt she deserves her sentence. I am not questioning that. What I am appalled by is the public reaction to her tears, as if she has committed mass murder. She has done wrong under the laws of her country (and most others I would suppose) and she is being punished under the legal powers of her country. Drink driving is a serious offence as it has the potential to endanger the lives of others. But this baying crowd reaction is tantamount to a lynch mob mentality. What wld hurt her most is for the world media to ignore her, now and forever. That wld be the harshest punishment. But by our incessant hunger for salacious details of her life we have created a monster - the talentless celebrity. I take the long view and see her for the vaporous nonsense she is. I couldn't care less what she is or does - I don't litter my mind with the low journalism that reports her lifestyle. By the same token I don't take offence to her social gadding about if that makes her feel she is living a worthwhile life, poor thing. I don't feel that I, or anyone else who is not her family or personal friend, have any right to dictate her lifestyle. As long as she conforms to her chosen society's customs and laws and doesn't interfere with me or mine, or frighten the horses - what the hell. Phew!

one question, if you are so concerned with people breaking the law, then why not comment on Scooter Libby getting sentenced to 2 years and 6 months to prison that he will never see?

bizarre how people in this country care more about hilton going to jail for 20 some days for a driving violation, but you release the name of a cia agent to get back at her husband for speaking the truth and you get no time in jail

                    fucked up

or maybe you really dont care about either but you just wanted to have a laugh
