I've seen this user interface in a few videos before in prototype. This seems to be a much better, all in one video.
When this sort of "multi-point" GUI becomes available it will mark a revolution in human-computer interaction. It is so much more natural and intuitive than current control mechanisms. The ability to group objects and throw them around simply by moving your hands/fingers apart is great. I seem to remember seeing the iPhone was able to zoom in/out of photos by a similar way of sliding your fingers together/apart so this is definitely technology on the verge of breaking into the mainstream.
Notice in the video that Google Earth, web browsers (Wikipedia is shown), photos and videos. I'm sure whatever computer is running that display must be very powerful! And contrary to what I said at the beginning, it's probably all running of Linux isn't it? Bet it is...
