If you're "less thirsty and more aspirational," perhaps you're part of the reason beer has lost out to wine.  Yes, friends, even though I now see vastly more women drinking beer than ever before, an unheard-of thing in the first place only a few years ago,  beer sales are drooping while wine sales are soaring.  "Slate" has an amusingly information column speculating as to why.

Personally, I'll admit that even I currently have more bottles of wine in the my cooler than I have bottles of beer _ but that's happenstance and largely because I drink up the beer while saving the wine for an occasion. *s*

Now, just maybe, if researchers discover that beer has some "heart healthy" chemical component such as does a good hearty red (mild pun intentional),  the world will get back to normal. Meanwhile, George Thorogood just may have to alter his trademark song!

But you see - beer is full of carbs and gas. Not a good combination these days! I love wine - but on a hot summer's day - I really love a glass of pression ( draught French beer usually from Alsace).
