Time Is Money? Guy Hopes to Go Backward

One guy gave up a special guitar to back a weird proposition _ that, just maybe, time travels backward as well as forward. Others caught up in the concept coughed up as well, usually a few thousand each _  $35,000 so far.

All so University of Washington scientist John Cramer could test "quantum retrocausality" _ an aspect of something Einstein called the "spooky action" of  subatomic particles.

Cramer, who regularly deals experimentally with particile physics _ you know, the behavior of quarks and stuff _ couldn't get funding from regular research organizations.

 But after the Seattle Post-Intelligencer wrote about his quantum quandary, several intrigued readers stepped up. 

And if Cramer tanks? Not to worry, they said; the experiment itself is worth doing. After all, one of the donors added, "this isn't that much money."

 "I  think we can learn something, even if it fails," said Cramer himself.
