My one big hope here is that the admins will respect my privacy and not dish out my IP, name or socially identifying demographics. I can currently Google myself and get one hit (around #80, consisting of my name and workplace), and I would like to keep it that way. Nevertheless, I'm a pretty social person "irl".
...that makes me think for a sec... anyone here remember the "good old days" of IRC, when assenine bombers were the occasional annoyance and you could tell the "kewl" people from the acronyms and smileys they used? I think the year I have in mind was around 1993. I ask this because I'm kind of curious to see where others here sit on the 'how long ago I got involved in the internet' list.
Anyway, that really covers it. Feel free to friend me, comment, etc. ad infinitum. I'd like that.
Have a nice day!
PS: Boy, it's kind of hard not to automatically sign messages with my name.

Gota make tracks!
I, too, like your heroes, and wonder if you could expand that list (I'm sure you could) if you had some time.
I got into the whole web thing through various back doors -- first web page (on Geocities!!!) in 1993 -- for work, not personal. First e-mail account at the same time, at the college at which I was then working as an adjunct. Various Yahoo! discussion groups -- Get Inspired Internet Club, Harold Adams Innis Club, Robert F. Kennedy Democrat Club, and a couple of others. Yahoo groups have gone totally down the toilet since the late 1990s. being devoid of protect from spammers and 'bots of various types. The "Get Inspired Internet Club" eventually migrated to its own domain.
Sorry. Lost my temper with the new technology...
BTW penumbra's a great screen name, wish I could steal it.
