Jack White "very angry" about advance airing of new album

Jack White had a very icky response to a Chicago radio station’s decision to play The White Stripes’ new album, “Icky Thump,” in its entirety last week. White called the station from Spain, chewing out Q101 disc jockey Electra for playing the album, which led to low-quality MP3 copies of the radio airings popping up all over the Internet. Station music director/assistant program director Spike told MTV News that White was "really mad" and used words like "naive" and "coward.” In a web blog, Electra said they told White that airing the album resulted in “an hour-long love-fest for” the Stripes, but, quote, “he wasn't having it. He hung up, very, very angry, and I thought I was going to cry." Spike said he got an advance copy of “Icky Thump” from friends who frequently send him links to leaked album files, and cited similar unauthorized spins of new albums from Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, all of which he says took place without incident. A spokesperson for Warner Bros. Records said the label was investigating the source of the leaked files. “Icky Thump” is due in stores June 19th.
