For anyone not acquianted with the fantasy genre, think Lord of the Rings films, you know orcs, goblins, wizards and warriors etc. So if you haven't read the first 3 books in this series this review will probably sound like gibberish.
This is the conclusion of the Ea cycle , Valashu Elahad and companions are returning to the start, Valashu's homeland of Mesh.Kane however is still running guerilla operations against Morjin(the Lord of Lies). Mesh unfortunately is in turmoil, with the Valashu missing for a year and no other princes to claim succession, civil war threatens.
The questers have already been through enough in getting the gelstii (magical crystals) and this looks like a knotty problem. With Morjin threatening to release Angra Mainya(big bad evil god-like being) and plunge the world into eternal torment etc. at the great alignment of planets they must keep the Maitreya(think good godlike being jnr) safe from Morjin until the The lightstone can be recovered.
I know its a bit odd but this really is a well put together book, brining to a conclusion the plots and schemes first brought to my attention in The Lightstone a few years ago. To any fantasy fans who have not discovered this author , think Raymond E Feist or Terry Goodkind and you'll have a rough idea.
The world is beautifully described, with good, well rounded characters and a rich environment for them to tinker about in. The scope of the world is astonishingly fresh. Not the tired old hack and monster mash of churned out pulp. Go back to the start and plunge yourself into a magical world.
