What is creative writing........

Well, I would suppose that it was to actually think before you write something, and if you took the time to think about it, does that negate some of the creative feeling to it, does it look forced....does it look too well prepared to have the effect that it is supposed to......

Hmmmm.......I have thought deeply about it.....or maybe I haven't given it a thought at all, maybe the sentence is designed to give off the impression that I have actually sat and pondered, made the reader presume that I am actually somebody with the time to actually sit and ponder about this kind of stuff....and what's more...are you really that interested in what I do in my spare time....LMAO

Ah creativity, it is a beautiful thing, you can sit for a moment and think about something, something so basic, and then, you just let it flow from your mind like you had severed an artery, let it come forth in great drips and leave puddles...stains...smears....splashes, of your creativity for all to step in and negate the very possibility of an intact crime scene....

After all.......this isn't friggin CSI ya know...there is nothing to solve here, just evidence to sift through, words to make you, the reader, actually surmise something, think about something, take your thoughts from the mainstream and drag them kicking and screaming into the surrealist world of your own imagination.......make you create an image.....like so...

I was taking a link from my watch, now I thought this would be a simple procedure but the knife I used slipped and stabbed me in my forefinger just below the knuckle, the wound itself was minimal, the blood....wasn't really much of it to go shouting about, but, the next day my finger had siezed up like it had been frozen and I had to walk around and try and eat and stuff like it was a prosthetic one, I had no control over it, could not bend it, could not move it, it was self clamped LMFAO......it was a doorbell pusher ffs...

Anyways....I have rambled enough about creativity......

Imaginative

Thought for this blog........

Sometimes it is better to act before you think........fuck the consequences

Interesting. I have a question for you. A colleague of mine who teaches "Integrated Marketing Communication" (I think that's what we used to call advertising) is struggling with a paper he's writing on creativity I am constantly goading him (and probably adding to his struggles) by suggesting there's no real creativity in advertising -- either visual or verbal creativity -- because there's no real free expression: everything is goal oriented, the goal being to get someone to pay attention to your brand (they don't even talk about actual products anymore -- everything is "brand").

What do you think? What would you tell my colleague? How does creativity fit into the production of persuasive messages of consumption? Does it fit at all?

I'd be interested in all reactions to this.

i think with any advertisement today and indeed most product commercials we see, the main purpose is goal orientated towards the product entailed, i think the creative part comes from the way the product is itself presented, true, the product does not itself warrant such creativity, it is just a means to an end to make the viewer, have sme sort of conection to the visual creativity he or she sees, like a car ice skating for example...a transforming one lol....very creative and i would indeed buy a car if it did that, makes you think of the car....so it has its good points of course...i would say to your friend, be wacky, be truly out there, be as blatantly creative as he can in his writing on the subject, the shock factor seems to be in abundance as of late......i think it could work :)

i definetly think theres creativity in writing when it comes to advertising. it really depends on the ad agency, the client, and the product/brand you are trying to sell. i worked for a time at an ad agency and i can tell u that a lot of times the ceo of the ad agency wouldnt let the guys in the graphic design department do what they wanted to do - that hampered the creativity.

examples of ads that have been able to be creative - the billboard ads that advertised a divorce lawyers services by using hot bodies!!! i thought that was creative but so many conservatives had a cow and it was taken down.

another - the doc marten nirvana ad - i loved it, but courtney love didnt like it :(

This seems like a very good example of prose poetry ( i know..oxymoronic sounding isn't it?) .. Great job!
