As some of you may have noticed I have been on a quest to review as much of Woyano as possible and having read and rated some 1500 submissions I have found that a depressing number are simply BBC links... much as I love keeping up on news, I have other websites for that, I much prefer seeing people submit truly original articles for this reason I thought I'd draw particular focus to two members who have submitted their own stuff:

Arooka - For his tireless efforts to introduce Cannabis to every possible facet of life from petrol to clothes.

Starrman - I may not agree with his opinions but he has a lot of them! I'd love to see him develop and reason them a little more, but consistantley original content!

Sigh - and (despite every other youtube link contribution) there was I hoping Woyano would become a self-referential crap free zone...

Ragados - the intention of Woyano is to give people a convenient place to share their own knowledge. So I agree with you. There are a fair number of people creating some great content and the number is growing. Its also fine to mix that with comments on news and artciles from other sources. The good news is that the Woyano team is busy developing Woyano version 2 and the emphasis is on making it really easy and fulfilling to generate new content!!

Bravo to Arooka and Starrman! Arooka has done a darn good job with all the posts, I never knew half of that information about hemp/marijuana. I really miss seeing more of Arooka. And of course, Starrman was very deserving of the last Awesome Award because he has put out so much material!

Ragado - I think there is more content here than meets the eye it just takes time for it to bubble up. I barely post ANY links to news - in fact I can't stand news... I've posted a lot of real content from cooking to cocktails and cocktails... a virtual karaoke partyy lol and even the woyano skin you're using now :) by the way re apply the theme I've made more corrections. I'll try to be more obvious about when people need to re apply the skin from now on.

                Cheers!

Yes indeed, I have seen lots of creative and entertaining submissions, but unfortnately an even greater number of news links. I love the karaoke idea, and all the other participation links that have started recently, unfortunetly as I have started with oldest first, I haven't quite reached them yet!

The BBC is set up by Royal Charter with a public mission to inform, educate
and entertain - and is primarily a news-gathering and distribution ( "broadcasting") medium. It is funded by a tax (confirmed as that by a court case many years ago) but called a licence fee. Anyone who owns a TV in the UK is required to pay this annual tax, even if you do not switch it on, because you have the equipment which enables you to receive the broadcasts. Also even if you never tune in to the BBC. I digress - but if the BBC clearly has not yet discovered the news that Woyano exists - then we loyal UK Woyanos should all do our best to inform it - if only to get some reward for paying our licence fee! I suggest a campaign aimed at informing all our local BBC TV/Radio stations. Once there has been even a slight response, Woyano will be archived for searches. Ideas for a campaign story anyone?

I must confess I am responsible for quite a lot of the bbc links. In my defence it's because I want to add interesting stuff to Woyano but am generally too busy working on woyano to devote the time to creating original content. Every now and then I do, and you can see all that stuff on my blog.

A link is a great start if it is followed up by a discussion. To facilitate this, the poster should add his/her own opinion/spin on the story being linked to.

I figure I've added self-revelatory comment to the stuff I've posted, and most certainly I do so in posting comments, but I also recognize I've posted stuff that folk most likely would have seen if they had an interest in that subject matter. Still, perhaps there's value in showing it to others who won't have sen it because they don't particularly pursue such topics. As for what JV intended in creating Woyano, even if I were privy to it, I'd leave it to him to speak. One thing's for sure, so long as Woyano exists and folk keep joining, it will become what they/we make it regardless of the original intent. But, as I read and thought about the Roganos rant *s* I wondered whether and what I might offer. I'd already been thinking that there were relatively few actually blogging. I do most such for myself in emails to my elder daughter _ who hasn't time to read them _ and to a scattering of net friends of long and close standing. So, Ragados, now I've done it here *s* _ and I'll probably turn up other somethings as the spirits move me.

PS: It really seems odd to be putting thumbnails and headlines on such; isn't it kinda self-aggrandizing? Hmmmmm.
