Cold.

A chill of time and space that mocked the concept of elan vital.

It seeped _ nay, flowed _ into his limbs, its icy touch burrowing to his very core.

He tried to resurrect the springtime of his life, to renew himself with sunny breezes, summer whispers, softly warm and silver midnights, Robin's cuddling and children's love.

But cold.

He could not. From tip to toe the iceman's stealth turned turgid stream into tortured torpor.

The tree went dormant.

I used to write stuff on occasion, kind of mood bits, In general, the hope was that more than something happening within the item, as in stories, that reading would change the reader, even if only just ever so slightly.

And I've always enjoyed word play.

Most if not all of the writings are pompous, pretentious, perhaps "precious," and some other p-words, but excluding profound. They were fun for myself. Few have seen them. I'm sticking my neck out a bit here, now _ but, a motto I've rather adopted, "if not now, then when?"

This was written a long time ago. I rather expect I'll post up a few other somethings, time to time. jbravo's "Leap of Faith" gave me the heart for it. LOL

About the thumnail: I'd gone unhopefully to google images on just "cold" and _ surprise _ found something that really fits. I can't find much as to what its author is/was doing _ a key link is broken. But here are links to his home page and the site where I found the drawing:

    earsz --

Thanks for "going out on a limb" and sharing that with us. Clearly, the iceman has not yet sapped the sentiment from your sensitive soul. :-)

Seriously, that did touch me. With just a few words, I felt the joy of springtime -- children playing and laughing, and the sadness of having to let it go. Yet, it's not goodbye forever, as we know that renewal will eventually come.

I look forward to future postings.
