Europeans see US as biggest threat to world peace

No surprise here! It's amazing that our administration/media (seems like the same thing nowadays) doesn't see the effects of its monstrous slander Islam campaign. US troops killed about twenty Afghani police and civilians on accident a few weeks ago.  We dropped more bombs on a city in Iraq, killed 10 civilians and wounded at least 25 more. :(  I found that mentioned as one sentence in a multiple page article linking some attack in January to Iran, who else? ;P

Well no, it doesn't surprise me. Bush is disliked, and generally poorly regarded, by a number of Europeans who aren't at all radical.

One bit of good news. Our 'new government', that is, Brown's Cabinet, and specifically, Brown and the Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, have been measured in their reactions to the attempted bombings. There have been no attacks on Islam and there's been no mention of a War On Terror, and they haven't called for sweeping new 'anti-terror' measures. (This is not to say they won't be tough.)

Incidentally Brown is a massive Americanophile (who till recently took his holidays in Cape Cod), his emotions lead him to America, not Europe; but not to the present US administration.

It is sad to me that the USA has that reputation now

I hope we can turn it around in the coming years *S*

Anyone with half a brain could see that most americans are decent law abiding, just like they can that most people on other parts of the globe are decent. The trouble is you get idiots and fundlementalist shouting the odds and unfortunly who ever shouts the loudest get heard.

a lot of folks are turned off by politics and politicians because of how our system is set up, but if only they realized they have the ability to make the change

things are the way they are because of us - we have no one to blame but ourselves

How true this is. That is a great perspective.

And why is money such a big factor in elections? Each candidate should have the same resources to run with. The way it is now, is not fair. Forget about who wins or loses. The people are being deceived by long running campaign adds from the richest candidate, and not much from the opposition.
Just take a look at the last NYC mayoral election. Ok, Bloomberg was a good candidate, but we barely heard anything from the other guy.
If they both had equal amounts to spend, I wonder what would have been the outcome.
Also, wouldn't such enormous amounts of money be better spent on something or someone who actually needed it?
I think it's a shame, and a waste of resources.

The Europeans have their heads in the sand, all the Islamist extremists, and the nations who support them in their jihad, must be rolling on the floor with laughter.

i hate to go off on a subject again but i will only comment on this the once, i have alot of good friends and family members that are american...and all joking aside...you crazy yanks are a lovely race of people...as an irishman i dont agree with that statement about the US.

in my opinion the biggest threat to world peace is religion. please dont turn this into another religious debate because i think i read all i can on it over the past while. if you agree, cool..if not...cool...either way..thats my opinion on it

Yeah we are pretty cool! It's just that a lot of us have a serious case of "wool over the eyes" syndrome. We see this terrorble fearful world on the TV then we head out the real world trying to change it into what we see on the TV set. If it doesn't match our worldview, we have an unconscious defense reflex that denies the new information, reinforces the old one, then engages the brain's reward system.

They should do a study of how the body reacts to "terror" tactics. I'm guesstimating the body's stress hormones which should be used for incoming tigers and lions (IE - actual threats, not terrorists) go into overdrive - no wonder why we have the worst health in the modern world. Cells aren't meant to be in a protection state for extended periods of time... with this whole new environment of terror when is it not at the forefront? I think it's about time we start the WAR ON STRESS - the only way to combat it is to have fun and RELAX!

Ugh, today I went to the airport to pick up my friend who was flying into town, and there were multiple signs all over saying "security alert! level orange!" with menacing orange blocks all over the place... ridiculous. I saw two arab dudes walking by it laughing at the huge sign and I was laughing with them. Gotta watch out for people driving already burnt up cars onto airport roads with bags of nails and cases of petrol (which is legal for any person to have) With 3 million cameras in London they can't tell us who left this bologne evidence (that couldn't kill anybody if they tried) outside a couple of popular nightclubs?

The one good thing about the Bush administration is that he's going to go down as the worst president in US history. I think after his obvious disregard for awesomeness, people are going to wake up to the facts, eventually. Right? :D

what utter nonsense that passes for political correct talk in this day and age the very idea that America is a threat to world p[eace could only be uttered by a person who knows nothing and who is beholdn to the socialism agenda of the radical left leaning liberals of the democrat party and so forth

America is loved and envied throughuot the world and those few who don't love america are moerely jealous recent polls I have seen somewhere indicate that America is loved by almost all people except for muslims who worship a religion of hate and want to destroy america

This isn't about left or right "smarttt"man - this is about our country as a whole! Those recent polls that found the world loves us that you saw somewhere don't exist until you can show some proof. How could we not be a threat to world peace? We have troops in a few dozen countries. Is there any reason they need us there at all? Before we go Team America: World Police, why not work on our problems at home first? You know, crime, unemployment, healthcare, racism, drugs, poverty, the energy crisis? Foreign wars happen to be perfect distractions from what is really wrong with our country. Why would anyone want us in their nation when we have some of the most glaring social problems of any 1st world country?

We come up with our "crazy" ideas from you know, facts and evidence, that sort of stuff. Not from opinions, libel and slander. The Muslim religion is not one of hate, although if you take ONE verse out of context from the Qu'ran you can certainly get that impression (and certainly some Muslim extremists, EMPHASIS EXTREMIST, do take that view to the extreme) - the Imam says that violence is not the answer and most Muslims take that position. When the US has killed between 50,000 (the mainstream US media estimate) and 600,000 (the Iraqi newspapers' researched estimate) - it is no wonder why many of them hate us. Each one of those dead Iraqis had friends and family, just like you. Each one of them now has a grudge against the US, and certainly with a good reason. Sure, we had 9/11 - which MIGHT have been by extremists, but why is Osama Bin Laden not on the FBI's most wanted? Well, they admitted that they have no hard evidence connecting him to 9/11. Yeah, we have one terrible quality tape of some fat fool with a tiny nose less than a minute long with him directly claiming responsibility for the towers. But, we also have a THIRTY MINUTE LONG (which is much closer to OBL's normal speeches) tape from Osama Bin Laden himself where he says that he was not responsible for the attacks and tells us to look for people within our own government. Of course, this tape was not allowed to be shown on US television, because the FBI claimed it may have had "terrorist codes" or some bull.

If you want to live with fear and hate inducing wool over your eyes, that's fine, but while you're being spoon-fed from FOX News, I think I'll do some personal investigation into the matter to try and find some real knowledge. We're all PEOPLE first, not Christian, American, Muslim, Male, Female or whatever label. It is a disgrace that such an "evolved" race like humanity cannot even come together to make sure that every human is clothed, housed and fed. Ugh. One day... people are going to figure it out, and we're going to look back on our history and be ashamed but proud that we conquered our selfish fears and inadequacies.
