The field of robotics sure is making progress. Several Asian companies now produce annual models _ and for some of these machnes, "models" is really the proper term. Sometimes called "fembots," the latest are hot!
While doing some searches, I saw one blog site where commentaries seemed to center on sexual potentials, comparing fembots with real-l;ife "friends with privileges" and waxing gross in their fantasies. *siiigh* Adolescents all, whatever their chornological ages, these commenters *g*. I don't suppose any of them needed an impetus, but it didn't help that one of the promos referred to a "robot working girl."
I even saw an ad offering used robots for sale!
These 'bots have voice recognition and show emotions _ including boredom. They key on characteristics of one's voice and speech to read real-life emotions in order to make appropriate responces.
They ain't cheap! but, one blurb I saw suggested that on a long-term basis, cost would be comparable to a real-life temp.
I'm not feeling very clever just now, so to learn more, you'll need to go to the various sites; there's too much to synopsize here, anyway. Be sure to check the various links you find as you browse through the sites to which these links will take you:
