LONDON - The Harry Potter books have spawned a parallel universe on the Internet, where sites attract millions of fans every day and play a major part in the success of the novels and their Hollywood adaptations.

So popular are J.K. Rowling's stories, and the Web pages built around them, that a handful of online fans have become stars in their own right.

It always amazes me how things like this have a life of their own. People sometimes act like this is something real -- rather than just a story. I wonder if on some plane of reality, it is. As a dabbler in writing, I've sometimes fantasized that I am creating something real as I make up characters and a story. Apparently, that happens quite often among fiction writers. :-)

I never got much into Potter myself. I couldn't make it through the first book. The style of writing just put me to sleep.

The movies may be better than the books.

Last paragraph of the Reuters article: ""In fact it is quite possibly because her own style is so bland that her readers feel able to play with her characters," writes Telegraph critic and author Frances Wilson.

      LOL

No offense to any Pottermaniacs out there, but it's just not my thing. I think either you love the books and films, or you feel indifferent. But I think it's a great way to get kids to read a book bigger than a human head *L*

Wahey!., at last this ridiculous shite will soon be over, less than 12 hours to go. This boring, mundane blurb and its associated hype have been making my blood boil for the last 4 years. The books are so badly written I could have crapped better prose. its just like a soap opera for the barely literate and mundane masses. To any adult that is looking forward to this tripe-SHAME ON YOU, go back to school and learn to read properly.

AAAARGH!! , I just hope that Harry is slowly boiled in oil until barely alive, then fed his own testicles, and made to dance in the nevada salt flats after having his feet peeled......
