Husband is watching the Open golf tournament on TV. It's in Scotland this year, and the poor spectators look chilled and drenched despite their wet weather gear. It's also cold there. In local dialect, "Dreich". As one of the commentators mentioned. Even in Scotland, July is usually pleasant and warm and dry. Usually. I am not a golf fanatic, but the competition is interesting this year. A teenage amateur from Northern Ireland is doing very well. And a young Spanish player is ahead of the famous international golf star, Tiger Woods. Anyway Husband is happy, remembering his own youthful golfing days in Scotland, before he snapped some tendons and gave it up ( oh dear, what a shame...) But I have a nephew who is a golf pro at a club and his income has been very affected by the poor UK weather this season.
OK , joke over. May we have some sunshine now please?

I prefer to escape by sea to mainland Europe
I do too, and plan to next year. This year I am rather stuck, I should go to the North East (not really a holiday) by train, but that wouldn't be wise at the moment, and I was hoping to go to the Cotswolds and/or the West Country but again, all bets are off.
I almost never follow golf, I admit.
Yes, I think the joke's over, I've had quite enough, I don't really want to wear my bright blue Crocs but there may be no alternative.
I do hope nobody here's actually been flooded.
OK, back to sitting in front of the TV and sulking.
I live close to water meadows and between three rivers. The water table in Salisbury is quite high. The magnificent cathedral literally "floats" on gravel. It has no crypt or proper foundations. The city centre was planned by Bishop Poore in 1220 on a grid system: "the chequers" with a system of underground waterways to feed the city. I live in the White Hart chequer. So far the drains are working. 800 yrs is not a bad record! Fingers crossed....
sorry to hear about all the rain - when i come over ill bring a bit of ohios summer sunshine - its about to be 90 degrees n sunny this week!
Cardiff's really not been affected at all, in fact, less so than by ordinary heavy rain. I see Gloucestershire's worse today. (Barry's a small seaside town that's very hilly, and I bet the drains are very old.)
because of the flooding :(
yeah his office is at his flat (does flat mean house as well as apartment in british lingo? lol)
I suppose he isn't in Gloucester or Tewkesbury.
There doesn't seem to be any flooding where japaneseboats is, yet, but as she says, fingers crossed... it does flood there sometimes...
he is just outside of it, midway in between tewkesbury and gloucester in newent
