Skimming my list of favorites for a website to peruse over my luch-hour, I wondered which websites have most influenced the Woyano community. I assume that we are all avid web users so everyone must have some real gems that we can share with each other. So, which would be the one website that has most influencd your life?

Personally, Stencil Revolution has had a major influence on my life over the last couple of years and rekindled my creative spirit. It is dedicated to the art of Stencilling and has a large and active community that regularly provides me with the inspiration to try and balance the more mundane aspects of my life. This is one of my favorite posts, but there are many others:

Well, the boring answer for me is "google", since it's lead me to more information than I ever thought possible. Google alerts also brought Woyano to me completely by chance (?) after having explored the LOA and very soon after thinking about needing a community to be a part of. There's considerably more to that story, but I'm afraid it's way too personal.

After that, I'd say msnbc.com, technology and science section. I've learned so many cool things there I wouldn't even know where to begin.

          Great thread by the way!

hmmm, hard to say if they've "influenced" me, rather maybe which ones have i wasted the most time in?

http://homokaasu.org/killeveryone/kill.gas - the kill everyone project - 110,110 confirmed kills to date. Genocide had never been easier, or featured chat.

www.thinkgeek.com - stuff for smart masses

www.vip.ie (the old virtual irish pub - points here now?) - 1996 onwards - they were the best of times, they were the worst of times

http://www.newgrounds.com/ - many an hour spent in here.

www.myspace.com - spend waaay too much time in there

http://www.yourstar.com/s...id_1=9537882&star_id_2=12 - my personal favourite ego site.

www.thinkexist.com - brilliant source of quotes.

              http://www.planetdan.net/pics/misc/georgie.htm - work fun times.

http://www.futureme.org/ - essential reminders of the days of future past.

It has to be without a doubt the VIP - i hope this place never dies......it was my introduction to chat rooms on the internet and it took me all the way to Ireland....

Myspace is coming in at a close second tho....but that was referred to me by vippers of course as the pub was getting quiet at times so this was another way to keep in contact with ppl due to the time difference...

If you mean http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/ then I would have to agree. A friend of mine one had the pleasure of playing a live session a couple of years ago. Long live The Capes!

My love for dance music and computers eventually led to me learning to DJ. The sites that helped me make the jump:

                                Full club music sites:
                                www.beatport.com
                                www.trackitdown.net
                                www.djdownload.com
                                www.playittonight.com

                                DJing software and techniques
                                www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=traktor3 (Traktor 3 mixing tool)
www.native-instruments.com/forum_us/index.php? (Traktor forums - great help here!)
www.mixedinkey.com (tools to help me mix harmonically)

Apart from dance music, my biggest passion would be websites! I am a geek, it's true. There's simply too many resources to mention but it's safe to say that without the internet existing and all the free tools, software and tutorials available, I would NEVER be doing what I am doing now.

                                Underlying web technology:
www.php.net (PHP - all powerful, all mighty and FREE serverside scripting technology)
                                www.mysql.com (MySQL free database)
                                http://httpd.apache.org (Apache server)
                                www.zend.com

Professional web design and coding help:
                                www.alistapart.com
                                www.digital-web.com
                                www.phparch.com
                                http://devzone.zend.com/public/view
                                www.codeigniter.com
                                http://framework.zend.com

And persoanlly, on a daily basis I could not be without the following sites:
                                www.google.com (search!)
                                www.google.com/calendar (Google calendar)
                                http://mail.google.com/mail (Gmail)
                                www.google.com/reader (Google RSS Reader)
                                www.digg.com
                                www.facebook.com (myspace is terrible!)
                                http://news.bbc.co.uk

There's many, many more, but I think that about covers me for now!

Hmmm, speaking truly personally I would have to say www.phparch.com. It was from that site that I bought a bunch of PHP training (including Zend Studio) for half price when Italy won the World Cup! I mentally turned the corner from website guy to website pro.

I'd love to say that it was something thought provoking or intelligent, but I'd have to admit that it's weeklyfreebies.com.

I'm addicted to free samples and I've won lots of stuff...i-tunes downloads, luggage, department store gift cards, a cell phone, a coleman widebeam flashlight, sleeping bag...

I figure if I'm going to spend hours online, I might as well get something out of it.
