Is there any kind of automated way to deal with videos that we display being taken down by you tube... Or at the very least should there be a link to notify the contributor of such?

If you have the CPU to spare, you could have a script check the video once a day or every few days or weekly. You could use the official API and do a youtube.videos.get_details call, checking for error 100, which would mean a problem with the video link or the video was removed. Or you could scrape the linked video page for div class errorbox, which only exists on pages that have been removed or aren't valid. Then you could e-mail the content poster to let them know they need to update.

Easier and cheaper would be some sort of link to report video problems as you suggested.

Or if you want to get really fancy, call youtube.videos.list_by_related whenever a user inserts a video via your widget. Usually in the first few related videos will be an exact copy of the same video posted by somebody else. (Look for video length as a more reliable indicator than title). Make a note of those videos somewhere, then when something gets removed, poll to see if any of those videos still exist, and if so you can present your Woyano user with a handy list of possible replacements. It's rare that all copies of a video get taken down, so chances are good that at least one of your cached links will still be valid. That would be a totally amazing feature to have, but probably overkill. :D
