Congress, Bush in Race to Bottom

Reading the free daily newspaper on the way into work today - there is an article in the express that shows how the Congressional rating is at 25% where the presidents is at 35% as they go into the august break...

Its interesting that these numbers come out like this since it was supposed to be such a change in things once the Dems took control- but 70% of the democrats polled said they disapproved of the way Congress was handling its job..

So where does this leave the country-- no one is happy with anyone?

I think we're all ready for a change up!

its easy to see why Congress has a lower approval rating - they aren't standing up to Bush and the Republicans

they were hired in 2006 to do exactly that!!!

the ones i see trying to bring about change are the REAL democrats, and the ones who are wussies against the republicans are merely republicans in democratic suits - those need to be fired.

The same thing could be said about the wussie Republicans who aren't holding up true conservative ideas, but instead are pandering in an attempt to preserve their position -- which I think may ultimately backfire.

LBP -- you seem motivated to do the right thing. Are you going to run for office? Cindy Sheehan was prepared to do it if Pelosi didn't impeach Bush. Whatever happened with that, anyway?

i have to ask ? what did you expect them to realy get anything done L.O.L. i know its sad , but thats my outlook on the subject . They will wage a useless battle for the day then off to a 5 star restraunt for dinner and maybe even vote themself a cost of living raise before summer break , but to actualy get somthing done in the best interest of the country ? and if indeed americans want change then preasure gov. to pass laws about " no nepatism in gov. so they dont keep having babys to raise into power postions or that nobody can hold any seat in gov. including the excutive branch , that has interests or holdings in Uhmm lets say umm , energy , big drug co. , private war contractors , ect ect ,,there sole purpose will be for the people , about the people , Wow what a concept , no personal or financial gains to conflict with the job they are being paid to do or suppose to be doing ,...just my thoughts

O ya and will jenna some day be a first lady along side henry hager as pres.? Nahh"" they have no political ambitions coming from there respected familys L.O.L. somehow i dont feel that change coming,.I know i laughed about it , but it realy isnt funny , these people are bred to be politictions . And that is what will keep the cycle of non change going , along with keeping power within these familys/ corperations

people want real change and if we keep voting for the same families, the same party (republican or republican lite) we are going to get the same result

vote progressive or independent, even green!

For once bloc, we agree. if you keep on voting for the same old dinosaurs, why would it be any different? Was it Einstein who said something like; insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result? i'm not sure who said it I'm sure some one here knows. Voting a different party isn't the long term answer. Term limits would bring about the change you speak of. The additional problem is money in politics The guy or gal with the most scratch usually wins. Thats why Obama will never get the nod for the dems. The Billary machine has got a huge war chest and he'll never compete in the long run even though I believe he's a far superior candidate. (mind you I still don't like his politics but I like him personally) So you got a dingy runing congress now who 's only concern is getting re-elected and maintaining her power structure. To do that she surrounds herself with her toadies and passes meaningless resolutions instead of doing what she and her "change" promising freshmen dems said they were going to do. If they had any courage of their convictions they would "damn the torpedos, full steam ahead" I have to say that the same problem does exist on both sides of the aisle. When the repubs had both houses and the pres they shoulda been hell on wheels man, but they wussed out. In that regard I'm glad they got their butts kicked, maybe the party leaders will wake up and stop bringing out the same old talking points that everyone is tired of hearing. I'd like nothing better than to see a candidate come outta nowhere with Independent after his name and kick both the rep and dems butts. so until the choices get better all we can do is ........................

On second thought, at least if nothing is getting done then nothing is getting F'd up. Maybe thats better, the amnesty bill comes to mind.

                        LOL your a nut xgames!!!!

It just seems that if the liberals in congress aren't blaming someone else then they don't consider it a full day's work- now they are turning on each other- pointing fingers and squabbling within-

is there nothing constructive they can offer? I bet there are quite a few on all sides that get tired of that game but they aren't high enough on a committee or represent a powerful enough constituency to speak up.

Or- too many long lunches as xgames mentioned ;)

Speaking of race to the bottom ,soo in short Foley isnt a sexual predator, thats why he isnt being charged with anything and Larry Craig isnt gay, just because he plays footsie with men in bathroom stalls of airports , dosnt mean he was lookin for sombody to pull on his winkie " Please !!! give me a break people !! personaly i want people to run my country who are smart enough to not get cought acting out there freaky preferences, thats right ! Did clinton reach rock star status when it was found out that he got a BJ and a nut in the oval office ? why hell yes he did , but then i thought to myself Hmmm? The most powerful man in the free world not smart enough to get away with a blow job , and then he lied under oath and what did he get ? a full retirement and a 7.5 Mil$ book deal ,,somthing is verry wrong about that in my opinion..." TO EVERYONE ON CAPITAL HILL"" I realy dont care what elected officials fetish's might be , Be smart enough so i dont have to know about them, ...be as smart as you play off to be, and we the people won't have to hear these storys of gov. officials , and the shame they bring on the people and themselfs ........DONT BE STUPID

I've never heard that perspective before. Very interesting. An intelligence test. Maybe if they're caught doing this stuff, they should be punished just for being STUPID! :-)
