MADELAINES MUM MADE A SUSPECT!!!
Kate McCann has been made a formal suspect in her daughter's disappearance, a family friend has said.
Portuguese police suggested to Mrs McCann that traces of Madeleine's blood were found in a car the family hired 25 days after the girl went missing, the friend added.
It is thought Kate is being asked more questions linked to the DNA tests on samples taken from the car.
During questioning yesterday, detectives suggested that traces of Madeleine's blood were discovered in the vehicle.
Mrs McCann told them there was "no way" her daughter's blood could have been found inside the car and she continues to protest her innocence, the friend said.
Her lawyer, Carlos Pinto de Abreu, has told her she could be charged in connection with her daughter's disappearance.
The McCann family spokesperson Justine McGuiness said: "The police are treating Kate as if she is involved in the death of her daughter.
"That suggestion hasn't been put to Gerry, so they are treating them differently.
"It is a ridiculous suggestion."
A large crowd whistled and shouted as Kate arrived back in Portimao.
Mrs McCann was greeted by a huge crowd of journalists, locals and holidaymakers, many of them whistling and shouting at her.
One British tourist shouted: "We believe you, Kate." But there were apparent jeers from other people in the crowd.
Madeleine's mother has been made an "arguida", a formal suspect, in the case, according to her friend.
An arguida receives more protection under Portuguese law, including the right to remain silent in formal interviews.
Sky News Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said: "The police are doing this so they can ask her a list of 22 questions about the night Madeleine disappeared."
"There are specific questions they need to ask and they can only do that if she is a suspect."
The friend added: "She is shocked and surprised in several ways. First of all that such an accusation could be made against her.
"And obviously she is concerned that such a line of investigation can become a distraction from further attempts to find Madeleine."
Gerry McCann is due to be re-interviewed at 2pm.
Scotties Opinion-
I think this is ridiculous to be honest, instead of searching for the real abductor. The useless portugese police force have focussed there attention towards a mother who has had her daughter abducted. It looks like a desperate attempt to cover up their incompetence, and to get a fast conviction, even if its an innocent person.
Hope they find maddie 1 day, poor girl. My thoughts are with her and her family.

Regardless of whodunit, this story makes me think of all the children/teens who were abducted this year and are still missing. Of course, I also think of JonBenet Ramsey, whose killer was never found.
I have 2 boys, who are now approaching or have hit the teenage years, but I have never felt the absolute fear that I have felt since having my daughter. I never wanted to be one of those parents that treats a little girl different than how they treat a little boy. For the most part, I'd like to think that I'm on a pretty even keel....teaching them all how to clean after themselves, cook, do laundry, dig for worms for fishing, fix random household objects (although my daughter is 4 and hasn't quite accomplished all of that yet, but she will) However, I have little heart palpatations everytime I'm at a store and she disappears around a corner to the next aisle.
It's sad that the world has come to this.
keep in mind - there have been innocent people all over the world that have been arrested at one time or another that never committed a crime.
this is why im torn when it comes to the death penalty.

a good percentage of the time a child is abducted or killed by someone they know and trust.
it is the same here kooky, I think it must be so in most places.
she must have aroused their suspicians somehow
if all the other people in the McCann's party are telling the truth, she was the last person to visit the children that evening; she reported Madeleine missing. (I think that's why her husband isn't being questioned the same way.) There is also DNA evidence analysed by forensic labs in the UK. That's all that's known, really.
You don't leave a kid alone. Ever.
For a budding kidnapper to have snuck in and swiped a child, they would have had to have been mightily lucky to just happen to stumble across that apartment where a kid had been left alone.
In the UK there have been several instances of parents appearing on tv making appeals about missing kids, and it turns out to be the parents themselves who have been the perpetrators.
If it had been a teenage mother who'd've left her kid alone and the police had heard about it, or social services, the parents would already be in serious trouble for neglect.
And again.. I remind people, one dead every 3 seconds from poverty. Where is the international press coverage screaming for justice for the 15 kids dead in the time it took to type this out? Who's going to be arrested, questioned, or even at least falsely accused, so that the world can be aware that something is being done?
It's that Neglect word again... only on a slightly larger scale.
Yes, and the McCanns left the kids every night. (But I think a kidnapper could have watched and known what the parents were doing.)
HEY i dont know what will come out in the next few daysmonths, but my gut feeling as a father to a wee girl the same age as maddie. Is that the parents are innocent!!!

Maddy
In my opinion,
The parents of Maddy McCann have done what so many other parents of missing children haven’t, they’ve taken it to the media and have vowed to keep it in the spotlight until she’s found.
This of course has irritated the moneymakers of the resort in question and to some degree the entire country of Portugal. The longer it went on the more pressure the police were under to make in the very least, a show of progress. I suspect the McCann’s continued presence in Portugal made this almost impossible as all avenues of thought/progress were met w/ a dead end further fueling the cries heard round the world at this, yet another child abduction.
Its almost impossible to know for certain what’s happened unless of course you were involved in the actual abduction. Kate and Gerry Mc Cann have continually kept their promise to Madeleine and haven’t given up looking for her. Their tactics have brought them both scorn and outrage from some sects but also praise for having the fortitude to keep up the search despite any and all accusations presented along the way. Initially the McCann’s vowed not to leave Portugal until they were once again a family of 5. Their decision to return to England would have been an agonizing one but I suspect they did that to ensure their twins could live in a more “normal” environment. They could not have known when they began their search that it would go on this long and that so little would have been discovered. They let it be known long before they were brought in for questioning that the return to England was imminent. I feel the authorities had to make an appearance of progress as to give the “world at large” something else to chew on if only to diminish the idea that the Portugese authorities have not had any success in this investigation think we are all quite aware of the implications for the Portugese tourism industry had the police not been able to amass any progress whatsoever. I suspect they brought the Mc Cann’s in for questioning was an attempt to allude to the parents involvement thus more as damage control for the tourist industry.
As for the actual abduction I agree w/ those who’s line of thought is, Maddy was a made to order victim of an organized pedophile group and when they spend all their time doing nothing more then thinking of ways to abduct children , can any of us ever be certain it wont happen to us? Some will say the parents were acting irresponsibly when leaving the 3 children alone while they had dinner w/ friends. Fact of the matter is - had they wanted to take Maddy they would have done it regardless of opportunity. I’m sure the guilt this family is suffering is far greater than anything we can imagine.
People on holiday, in what seems to be a secure resort ,are often caught off guard (letting their guard down)when faced w/ the realities of the countries we chose to patronize and we often think (wrongly) that nothing like this could ever happen but it happens more often than the host country would ever reveal.
This begs the question - How far would these travel/tourism destinations go to protect their own industry? A lot of what you determine will depend on your own experiences and wether or not you’ve taken a good long look at what goes on just outside of some of these gated communities.
It’s a sickening wake up call , in my opinion.
Hey you know AdGuy always gets the last word! ;)
