An Iraq timetable has been the growing demand from the Democrats who are seeking clear milestones for the withdrawl of U.S. troops from Iraq. President Bush and his Republican allies have argued that any Iraq timetable would undermine the safety of US troops and reinforce the conviction of AlQaeda and other insurgents in Iraq.

The two sides clashed when President Bush negotiated a second war funding bill with the Democrats making a concession to  drop their demand for a timeline to bring troops home from Iraq only after failing to secure a vote in the House to override the President's veto.

However, the Democrats remain committed to ending the war whilst President Bush sticks to his guns and reiterates his intentions to stay the course. Until the Presidential election in '08, its therefore unlikely that an Iraq timetable will be forthcoming.

yeah its highly unlikely - none of the major democratic nominees want to be seen as not supporting the troops, and its really going against the reason the Democrats won in 2006, they were given a majority by the American people in order to put an end to the war in Iraq - to stop the out of control Republicans but unfortunately many of the Democrats elected are wussies and are afraid of the Republicans. And who does it upset the most? voters

especially the voters that were wanting change
