No! As long as people hurt animals and think it's okay to torture them in laboratories, then they do not deserve to go on. It's too awful and stoopid a thing, and if they're too blind to know it, then, byebye!

Also, when people start attacking their own young, it's too creepy. Byebye!

I would like to see people like Andy Griffith, Mr and Mrs Brady, and Mr. Beaver's dad. They seem like really nice people. Were the 50s as good as they look on the telly?

hating is easy, just like going downhill is easy. Light requires effort. Dark doesn't. Just sit around and do nothing, and dark happens.

Happiness? Seeing animals dance for joy, babies with their Mums... being loved, licked and cherished, nurtured. Also, seeing people laugh for joy, kind and good fun. Good sportsmanship. People seeing the light. Then, having the light shine on them so they glow. Those sort of people are a joy to be around! That's happiness! : )

Where animal testing is concerned I entirely agree with you.
However people today I believe have a tremendous ability to justify things to themselves and in doing so make certain actions of companies or individuals acceptable.
For example, if people see nothing wrong with eating meat why would they care about that " meat " in a lab. How can you eat a cow or goat and be concerned about a chimp? In pain a cow is a goat is a pig is a chimp is a boy.
Only when people see the immediate connection...the torture in labs...the abysmal conditions in abattoirs... the forcefeeding of certain animals.... young animals being kept in cages standing in sand to strengthen their legs ....only when this hits a cord inside them..thats when the people that protest wont be looked at like some hangover from the 60's or suffering from too much sensitivity.

Yes yes yes! You are so right on! People justify, ignore, and just don't even know or understand what's going on. They are so busy they don't want to care. They don't want to know, because it hurts. But the hurt they are going through doesn't come close to what the animals and children are going through.

I understand. I wish I didn't find out about all of this stuff. Then, I could have lived blissfully unaware. But now, knowing, I am glad. Because in knowing, we can help.

I didn't know about abattoir conditions... I must google abattoir so I understand. And, standing in sand to strengthen their legs? What animals? Do we need to change laws about that, too?

In pain a cow is a goat is a pig is a chimp is a boy... i>
So SOOO true. Thank you thank you thank you for understanding, for realizing, for being so AWARE.

PS: We sometimes have to just take a rest and be happy, be free or so much worry and concern. Let's be sure to take time to do that, so that we have the strength and energy to help!! :D:D:D

PPS: I really like your thoughtful questions. They are terrific! The kind of things people should have fund discussing at parties, rather than just getting drunk and lookin' for whatever...

In a movie, I saw a group of intellects sitting around having a rousing conversation (Russia House?) and just having terrific fun exchanging ideas. There was no TV! They could have asked the questions you asked. That is REAL fun! Instead of sitting around watching tv till it's time to nightynight. : )

          Cdin,

When “Kentucky Fried Chicken” changed its name from the former simply to the abbreviation “KFC” they did this for a reason not widely known.
I don’t remember the year they did this but the public was made to believe that they did this because they wanted to get rid of the word “Fried”.
          FALSE.
They did this because the condition of chickens in their slaughter houses were so bad (some living with no heads, others just tubes into a body forcefeeding it) that a court in the United States (not sure I think the suit came up in California) actually found that the birds no longer could be called chickens (according to the legal definition) to avoid further investigation and public outcry they removed the word chicken and are now just KFC.

I’m trying to find the case but haven’t been able to. I read about it a couple of years ago.

Yes, during my research I came across situations where animals were being kept in cages in sand to strengthen their legs.
Ducks were being forcefed and their livers served as the delicacy- foie grois. Here being a delicacy seems to be the excuse for cruelty.

I, just like you was also shocked when I was witness to this first hand.

As long as you’r aware and you make others aware you’r doing your part. I feel people need to know. After that it’s their decision.

I don’t try to convince anyone-it doesn’t work. They immediately see you as some sort of hippie and their pre-conditioned responses take over. Thus further strengthening their resolve that its ALL OK.

People simply should come to realize that animals should not be regarded as property, or treated as resources for human purposes, but should instead be regarded as members of a moral community. Many ( Including Harvard Law School ) advocate extending personhood to animals.

The Seattle-based Great Ape Project is campaigning for the United Nations to adopt a Declaration on Great Apes, which would see gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees and bonobos included in a "community of equals" with human beings, extending to them the protection of three basic interests: the right to life, the protection of individual liberty, and the prohibition of torture. This is seen by an increasing number of animal rights lawyers as a first step toward granting rights to other animals.

Critics of the concept of animal rights argue that animals do not have the capacity to enter into a social contract or make moral choices, and therefore cannot be regarded as possessors of moral rights.
