The coming of the rain.
Proceeded by thunderous applause to your brushstroke of black,
Bringing death and thus new life to a canvass that only moments ago was blue.
Now I know you’re on your way.
The dogs on the seashore bark and gather together as if to whisper tales of past monsoons.
I stand at my window to stare at my perennial friend- the ocean, and can see you’ll have already met in the distance.
I want to be there in the distance over the surf, I wanted to be the first to greet you.
Now, standing at my window,
My heart beating faster and my gaze focused on your grey mountainous curtains flying across the ocean,
I’m struck by another thunderous applause, as if to echo my sentiment and applaud for the all encompassing brilliance of the moment...this enveloping installation that I am now a part of.
I smile and I reach out to touch you for the very first time.
Now you’re here, your all mine.
I run down to walk with you,
I look around me and see that everyone is as ecstatic at your arrival,
I can smell the sigh of relief that the parched earth has breathed,
The dust has settled, the trees look green again, the birds wash their feathers.
I walk with you and I can’t help but laugh and smile.
I thank you for allowing me to once again receive you… for the very first time.
