Gridlinked by Neal Asher, and The Skinner by the same author. Both good gritty sci fi books, and there's several more if you like those two.
Apocalypso by Robert Rankin. Classic humour like a cross between Monty Python and Terry Pratchett and Tom Sharpe
Heavier reading... The Magdalene Legacy by Laurence Gardiner which explores Jesus's bloodline. (see the most helpful review name.... lol)
Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This is literature allegedly but is inspirational and read throughout the world.
Alchemist by Peter James. Excellent horror and with interesting concepts
