Eva Braun was Hitler's mistress for twelve years and his wife for one day before their joint suicide. Eva Braun was born in Munich, the daughter of middle-class Bavarian parents[her father was a schoolteacher] In her late teens she was employed as an assistant by Heinrich Hoffman, Hitler's photographer, who introduced her to Hitler.
Tall, slim pretty rather than beautiful, she was a devotee of physical culture, adept at swimming, gymnastics, skiing, and mountain climbing. She was extremely fond of dancing, which she studied professionally. Reticent and somewhat shy, she had little interest in politics, and spent most of her time reading novels, and watching films. Her one goal in life was to serve her beloved Fuehrer.
Eva Braun spent her time when installed as Hitler's mistress, at his mountain retreat the Berghof. She was kept in the background and surrounded by a wall of silence. She was banished to her rooms whenever important guests were entertained, and very few Germans knew of her existence. On April 15 1945 Eva Braun arrived in Berlin and joined Hitler in the Fuehrerbunker. Hitler decided to grant Eva Braun her dearest wish, he agreed to marry her, and the ceremony took place on April 29 1945. Shortly before half-past three on April 30 1945, Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun committed suicide.
