I work for a large publishing company and my job basically has me talking about books all day. It's a tough life. Like most people, I've followed a funny path to get were I am, but I wouldn't be anywhere else. I have a blurry-edged plan to move into editing fiction then eventually publishing a novel of my own one day.

Most people I know, online and in my day-to-day existence, call me Bilks. The Wayano account creation form wouldn't let me use that as it was defined as a dictionary word, so I played around a little to find a suitable alternative. In the process I googled each name to see if they had meanings I didn't know about. I learnt some funny things.

Bilk:
This is actually a real word meaning to defraud, cheat or swindle or to avoid payment. It is most commonly used these days to refer to the process of buying petrol or gasoline and driving off without paying. So all these years people have actually been accusing me of fraud.

In Japan, however, I found a much more palatable use of the word. Bilk is the name of a new beer that has been produced with one third milk! The idea came about due to the huge surplus of milk in Japan recently and the finished product is apparently quite tasty. There's a nice little article here:

BILK is also a Croation synth band dating back to 1999. Sample some of their sounds here:

Objects
Gone to Texas

I also tried playing around with bilkai, bilkae and bilkeaux but they all seemed to register a lot of slavic names or were to close in sound to a certain other word which resulted in some searches I wouldn't recommend to anyone on this g-rated website.

In the end I went with scribilks because I hoped it had a little resonance with scribbles, which is something I seem to do a lot of. There are no hits on google for scribilks.

I joined Wayano because I thought it was a great idea and I wanted to be involved. You can expect lots of Book Reviews from me.

That's really great to hear. At the moment we are just in the very beginning stages, we have features planned that will hopefully make Woyano a powerful tool to post and syndicate your reviews, as well as generate readership.

Please feel free to add feedback about any aspect of the system that you think could be made better :)
