On the night of the 10/11 May 1941, the last raid of the London blitz occurred, and it was the heaviest. !436 people were killed and 1792 seriously injured, a third of the streets in London were impassable and many families found themselves without water, gas and electricity. After this raid the London blitz ended, mainly because nearly all Germany's aircraft were needed for the invasion of the USSR.

As early as November 1942 Hitler made public mention of new secret weapons that were being developed, he was referring to the V1 flying bomb and the V2 rocket. Later in the war these deadly weapons were to bring much death and destruction to Southern England.
