Human hands certainly provide a ready source of nutritional factors that permit bacteria to survive and flourish. In everyday life this is probably of little importance, but in hospital, with their nasty bugs {the NHS has one of the worst records in the Western world} and susceptible patients it is a very different matter.

Despite repeated campaigns to encourage the practice of hand-washing, doctors and nurses seldom do so, some experts suggest that a radical solution would be, that on admission to hospital patients should be informed of the importance of hand-washing, to reduce infection rates. So patients need to remind doctors and nurses of the necessity to wash their hands, what a pathetic state of affairs.

Not surprising , I have grown up around doctors including my father and they often believe they know everything . This is a country that actually believes pills cure diseases when they are only treating the symptoms . I was at a medical conference where the speaker told doctors " if a patient asks you about a specific supplement , don't get drawn in to a debate simply say " there isn't enough evidence at this time " . He went on to say " The patient may have just read an article about the supplement and may know more than you , so you never want to give the patient the impression they may know better than you what is good for them ." At this my nutitionist friend said " brilliant idea " , and we walked out . This is the mentality you are dealing with !!
