VE DAY CELEBRATIONS IN NORFOLK VIRGINIA

A huge crowd gathered in on Noth Younge Street and marched down to the centre of Toronto. the completely law-abiding Torontonians showed how conservative they were, this very large excited crowd came to an intersection, where the traffic signals were red, they waited until they changed to green before continuing. In all schools across Canada and the USA as the news of wars end was received, a holiday was declared for the rest of the day.

The broad street in front of the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln Nebraska, was filled with a joyous cheering crowd that had gathered spontaneously to celebrate "Victory in Europe" Nebraska's governor and Lincoln's mayor followed President Truman's lead in declaring the following Sunday as a day of prayer and thanksgiving.
