David Davis has resigned as an MP and shadow home secretary. He stated "I feel duty bound to make a personal stand against this assault on fundamental freedoms" This followed the Government's victory in the Commons concerning the introduction of up to 42 days detention for terrorist suspects.

I support the 42 day detention, the problem is that the proposed bill has been so emasculated it is unlikely to be effective, in addition to that human rights law might well impede it's implementation. Mr Davis, surely the most fundamental freedom is for the citizen not to be blown to pieces by crazy Muslim extremists. You suggest that such measuresassecurity cameras and ID cards threaten the freedom of the citizen, but it is only the criminalswho are at risk and who the hellcaresabout them.

So now there will be a by-election in Mr Davis's consituency, how can this crazy gesture make any sense, Mr Davis had the best platform for his views the House of Commons, he is now to stand in the by-election, and it is quite likely he will be elected, back to where he started, what a waste of taxpayers money. I understand the Monster Raving Looney Party will be standing against him, it my hope that the electorate will vote for them, that will teach Mr Davis a lesson, but prehaps he should resign from the Tory Party and join the Looney Party, he might feel more at home there.
