Is it me or does it seem like so many do not care anymore? Do not care that people have lost their homes? Do not care about global warming? Do not care about labor rights? Human rights?
What has happened to the people of the world that used to care?
I guess I just don't understand. I know people are working hard, going to school, and wrapped up in their own lives but what happened to this idea of caring about your neighbor? That the measure of a country is how the poorest and weakest among us are doing?
I believe the way I do for one reason and one reason only, for human beings, for my neighbors. Because I want my nieces to grow up in a loving, caring society. Not a selfish, hateful, nasty society filled with bigots.

There are many sad things happening, but there are also
many wonderful things happening.
There are still an amazing number of loving, giving, honorable
people in this world. Many are devoting their lives for others and
accomplishing great, great deeds.
2 bad things currently happening:
1. television and Internet
2. corporate laws which encourage greed
Television is helping contribute to the degradation of everything
decent and wholesome.
It is particularly bad for kids.
Internet laws are allowing the worst porn to be available to kids.
Without wise parental discussion and intervention, such porn
tears at the soul of kids and perverts their natural proclivities.
Corporate laws actually encourage companies to do evil deeds.
In fact, if a corporation shows deliberate generosity, it can be
sued by shareholders. It's a slippery area.
A third danger is LAZINESS.
People become very lazy when their basic needs are met.
They stop earning, stop learning. They squander their gifts.
People will work, go home, watch television, drink, take parmaceuticals,
party, have indiscriminate sex, and stop working when they don't have
to anymore while keeping up all the rest, which is the path to nowhere
and nothing.
When parents leave their fortunes to their kids, they are doing their
children a disservice.
No child will strive when they don't have to...
GOOD NEWS
The power of people like you is HUGE. Your heart, your energy, your
will, your goodness is virtually unstoppable and has extraordinary
power. There are many people who see the light, and are willing to
fight for right. The times have never been more exciting!
: )
The internet is only going to become more advanced and take an increasing part of our lives. I'm not for installing chips in our heads and all that (some people will be) - but the amazing connectivity it offers us can be used to enrich our lives and the planets'. Currently it is being abused by multinational corporations to conduct business in a completely unsavory way and a serious fuel source for usury (which is REPEATEDLY (way more often than gay marriage or abortion) mentioned as a sin in the Bible, Qu'ran, and even ancient philosophers condemn it) but hopefully through the connection it offers us we will pave a brighter future. Seriously, the main problem with our society is usury.
Kids are engaging in more and more risky behaviors, and morality is becoming a thing of the past.
There's good reasons for moral behavior. Most people probably wouldn't prefer to marry someone who has venereal warts, herpes, clamidia, or oral problems caught when they were very young and very foolish.
Sometimes I think that TV deliberately encourages sexy dress and talk for kids so more kids are available to them! WOW!
Did I say that?? Yeah... I admit I could be totally wrong.
But, it really is sad when so many little girls think it's okay to do sexual activities just to be "popular."
"Used" is more like it.
Sorry guys, but we all know that guys are more predator than prey, at any age.
Uh oh i'm in biiig trouble now...

(Those were the bad things - there is a list of good things, too!)
Maybe should put good things in separate post...
One important difference is that here there are pavements (sidewalks) everywhere -- children play on the pavements in my street, and we meet people as we walk along them and in the park -- and there are thriving local cafes too. (Also it's a rather mixed place with a scruffy side, I think that helps.)
It isn 't though as friendly as I think India would be.
Hey you know AdGuy always gets the last word! ;)
